Norman Kalen

Rooted in the mountains and driven by community, I'm a graduate student in the Masters of the Environment program at CU Boulder, where I focus on sustainability within the outdoor industry. My work sits at the intersection of environmental stewardship and the spaces where people come alive outdoors, exploring how the industry that depends on wild places can also be its most committed protector.

As an Outdoor Educator, Community Engagement Specialist, and Outdoor Recreation Enthusiast, I've built a career around bringing people together through shared experiences in nature. Whether I'm leading a group into the backcountry, designing programming that connects communities to the outdoors, or advocating for more equitable and sustainable recreation practices, my approach is always grounded in collaboration, because the best solutions, like the best adventures, are built together.

 

I believe the outdoor industry has a powerful opportunity to lead on sustainability, and that belief is what brought me to Boulder.
